10 questions to ask when hiring a bandeoke or rockaoke band

More and more bands are offering a rockaoke or bandeoke night but do you really know what you're getting in return for your hard-earnt cash? Ask these ten questions before booking your entertainment - it could make or break your event.

1. How long has the band been playing?

More and more bands are offering a rockaoke or bandeoke option but the majority of them have only been playing together for a few months or a year or so. Obviously, the longer the band has been established and playing the better the musicianship and quality of the band will be, and the better your night will be. Live Karaoke Band was established in 2008 featuring a core group of musicians that started playing together in 2002. That's over a decade together and, scanning through the diary, over 1,600 gigs! In other words, we know what we're doing.

2. Is it a professional band?

A professional band will undoubtedly entertain you with a professional show which will make your party unforgettable. Beware of cheaper, amateur bands as you will invariably end up being disappointed by the poor musicianship. Live Karaoke Band features a variety of full-time professional musicians who regularly perform at the highest level of popular entertainment. For example, Nicola and Gemma are regulars in the hit stage show We Will Rock You; Sean has been playing with the international hit Circus Of Horrors; James and Christopher have recently been playing with Artful and Ben has been busy touring with chart-topping Ladyhawke, as well as appearances on Strictly and X Factor.

3. How many songs does the band know?

You will want a wide variety of songs that will appeal to all of your guests. Some rockaoke bands offer 50 songs for you to choose from. Live Karaoke Band has nearly 250 songs for you to choose from, covering the last five decades of popular music, and regularly update their song list to feature the very latest chart hits. We know there are some bands out there that claim 'over 500' songs and we know some that go out with a paltry 50 songs. The fact is, we carefully review our song list at regular intervals to bring you the absolute cream which we know will appeal to your party guests.

4. What clients has the band played for?

Live Karaoke Band's proven reputation means that they have been asked to play for an enviable list of national and international clients, as well as weddings and private functions up and down the country. Clients include T-Mobile, Orange, Panasonic, Virgin Atlantic, SEGA, Pepsi, University of Cambridge, Rewind Festival, Reuters... oh, and a private party for Hollywood superstar Jim Carrey.

5. What venues has the band played in?

Live Karaoke Band has the resources and experience to play from the smallest to the largest of venues. We've played regular pubs and clubs, house parties and on boats, theatres and festivals, indoors and outdoors. We've also played at The Hard Rock Cafe, Liverpool Football Club and the world-famous Abbey Road Studios.

6. Does the band come with a professional sound engineer?

We consider ourselves very lucky to have, if requested, Joe - an extremely talented and experienced, professional sound engineer who has worked up and down the country mixing live shows for many household names.

7. Does the band feature a variety of packages and options to suit every budget?

Absolutely. We're fully aware that everyone has had to tighten their belts over the last few years and you would've thought a luxury item such as live entertainment would have seen opportunities fade away. The truth is, by continually reviewing prices and offering the best value for money, Live Karaoke Band is busier than ever! We offer a variety of shows depending on the size of the event and the features you require, just call to discuss your requirements.

8. Do you receive a professional service as soon as you contact the band?

We run our own management company so that we know you'll always receive the best service before, during and after the event. If he's unable to immediately take your call, Nick at Tailored Entertainment will return your message or email within 24 hours. He will listen to your ideas and requirements, write a bespoke quote and be your single point of contact throughout your booking.

9. Will the band learn extra songs just for you?

Certainly. Live Karaoke Band will learn a couple of songs for you but do ask for a minimum two weeks notice. However, if you want more songs then let us know at the time of your booking.

10. Does the band provide a professional lighting show?

Live Karaoke Band comes with a basic lighting rig as standard which is suitable for the majority of occasions. However, this can be upgraded to a full professional rig with lighting engineer. Ask Nick for further details.
