Saturday 16 January 2010 saw Chesney Hawkes join The Live Karaoke Band on stage at Guildhall Square in Portsmouth to sing his worldwide smash hit "The One And Only" in an attempt for the largest air guitar ensemble performance ever.

Not only did The Live Karaoke Band provide the warm-up for the main event to an incredibly enthusiastic crowd on one of the coldest days in memory but were also asked to be Chesney's rockaoke band as their performance was simultaneously broadcast to eighty countries, including the many of the UK's troops serving abroad.

The event was part of Portsmouth's New Theatre Royal's "Let's Make it Great Fundraising Weekend" as they look to raise the £4 million by 2013 that is desperately needed to re-build the back-lot of the NTR, which burnt down in 1972.

Caroline Sharman, Director of The New Theatre Royal said, "The Live Karaoke Band heated up the crowd on an icy cold day. They were brilliant!"

Given the worldwide nature of the attempt it will take some time for Guinness World Record officials to confirm the final number but it is believed that another record as already been set for the longest time spent by an ensemble playing air guitar.
