18 years of corporate Christmas party entertainment with The Live Karaoke Band
September traditionally marks the start of our busiest period for Christmas enquiries. As bookings for Christmas 2026 begin to gather pace, we look back at some memorable festive events from 18 years of live karaoke.
The August bank holiday has passed, September has arrived and, right on cue, our Christmas enquiries are beginning to gather pace.
We've already started confirming dates for Christmas 2026, and it got us thinking about just how many company Christmas parties The Live Karaoke Band has played since our first show in 2008.
Christmas has become a major part of our calendar. Over the years we've provided corporate Christmas party entertainment for everything from relatively intimate staff celebrations to enormous company events with thousands of guests, performing for some remarkable organisations and at some equally remarkable venues along the way.
So, as another Christmas party season begins to appear on the horizon, we thought we'd delve into the archives and revisit a few festive highlights.
Orange and T-Mobile at The Belfry
Back in 2011, Orange and T-Mobile brought us to The Belfry for their staff Christmas celebration.
It's a good example of why we discovered fairly early on that live karaoke works particularly well for company Christmas parties. Instead of simply watching the entertainment, colleagues become part of it.
Some people want their moment in the spotlight, others form groups or duets, and plenty are perfectly happy singing from the dance floor and encouraging their colleagues. The result is an event where the entertainment becomes a shared experience rather than simply something happening at the front of the room.

Cadbury and a team that wouldn't leave the dance floor
Another early Christmas booking came from Cadbury, and it produced one of our favourite pieces of client feedback.
"Many thanks to you and the band for a wonderful evening. I have rarely seen the team so engaged and excited - we couldn't get them off the dancefloor! The professionalism and quality of your set up was fantastic, you've set up a really wonderful business that I would be delighted to use again."
That word engaged is particularly important to us.
A successful company Christmas party isn't necessarily about finding the loudest entertainment or putting on the biggest production. It's about creating an atmosphere in which people actually want to get involved.
Live karaoke gives the room a focal point, but the guests determine what happens next. The performances, reactions, unexpected singers and colleagues cheering each other on are what make each event different.

Sony, The Guardian and Alton Towers
By Christmas 2014, festive events had become a firmly established part of The Live Karaoke Band's calendar.
That season included bookings for Sony, The Guardian and Alton Towers, as well as a winter ball at London's Royal Garden Hotel.
The venues and organisations may change, but one of the reasons the format travels so well is its simplicity from a guest's point of view: choose a song, take the microphone and sing it with a real live band.
There's no requirement for everybody to participate either. A great singer can bring the room together, but so can somebody whose enthusiasm considerably exceeds their vocal ability. At Christmas, when colleagues are there specifically to relax and celebrate together, both can be equally entertaining.

3,500 guests with Thomson Reuters
Christmas parties also come in very different sizes.
One of our largest corporate Christmas events was for Thomson Reuters, where we delivered live rockaoke entertainment for more than 3,500 guests.
At that scale, providing interactive entertainment isn't simply about getting on stage and playing songs. Production, planning and working effectively alongside the wider event team become just as important as the performance itself.
It's experience we've been able to carry forward into countless other corporate events since, whether we're entertaining thousands of people or performing at a much smaller staff celebration.

15 Christmas shows and a night at the Etihad Stadium
December 2018 was particularly memorable.
We had 15 shows booked during the month, taking The Live Karaoke Band to Christmas celebrations in all sorts of locations and venues.
One of the highlights was performing at Manchester's Etihad Stadium, where guests took on songs ranging from Adele to Guns N' Roses.
Among the feedback from that event was a testimonial from Bauer Magazine Media, who had chosen live karaoke because they wanted to try something different for their annual Christmas party. They subsequently described the band as talented, professional and friendly, and said they wouldn't hesitate to book us again.

Why Christmas parties and live karaoke work so well together
Looking back through these events, there's a common thread.
A company Christmas party brings together people who already share something. They might work in different departments, operate from different offices or barely see each other during the working year, but they're not complete strangers.
That makes the audience particularly well suited to interactive entertainment.
Once the first few people have stepped up to sing, colleagues start encouraging each other, names begin appearing on the request list and the barriers between performer and audience quickly disappear.
Our current five-piece show features a lead vocalist and host, guitar, keyboards, bass and drums. Guests browse our song list and submit requests using QR codes displayed around the room. When their turn arrives, their lyrics appear on the band's screen and they get to experience what it's like to front a real live band.
Some guests will sing. Some will dance. Some will spend the evening enthusiastically encouraging everybody else. That's part of what makes the format work.
And now Christmas 2026 begins
Eighteen years after The Live Karaoke Band started, there's still a familiar change of gear once the August bank holiday is behind us.
Summer holidays finish, September arrives and Christmas enquiries start appearing with increasing frequency.
That's already happening for Christmas 2026, with dates beginning to be confirmed for this year's festive season.
There's no need for artificial countdowns or claims that every December date is about to disappear overnight. But there is a practical advantage to organising your entertainment early, particularly if your company has a specific Thursday, Friday or Saturday in mind.
It also gives us more time to talk through the venue, timings, production and the format of the evening, while your guests can start considering which songs they might be brave enough to perform when December arrives.
