Live karaoke at a joint stag and hen party near Winchester

Authored on

A joint stag and hen party can be the perfect way to bring both sides of the wedding party together before the big day. On 27 June 2026, The Live Karaoke Band played for Gemma and John’s joint stag and hen party at Stillwaters on the beautiful Avington Estate near Winchester, and it was a perfect example of how powerful a small private event can be.

With around 14 of their closest friends, including the best man, maid of honour, bridesmaids and partners, this was not a huge event with a big stage or formal production. It was something much more intimate: a brilliant group of friends, a beautiful setting, a hot summer evening and a live karaoke band set up in the lounge with the doors open, playing out towards the patio.

Why private party entertainment does not need a huge stage

One of the best things about this event was how personal it felt. You do not always need a big stage, a packed dancefloor or hundreds of guests to create a memorable party. Sometimes all you need is the right group of people, the right songs and the flexibility to make the space work.

Playing in the lounge with the doors open onto the patio made the setup feel completely unique. It showed exactly why The Live Karaoke Band can work so well for private parties, house parties, pre-wedding celebrations and smaller events where the atmosphere matters more than the scale.

A joint stag and hen party with a brilliant atmosphere

A joint stag and hen party is a different kind of celebration. It brings both sides of the wedding party together before the big day, so the entertainment needs to help people relax, mix and create shared memories. Live karaoke is ideal for that because it gives guests something fun to do together rather than simply something to watch.

In this case, nobody needed warming up. The weather was already hot, the atmosphere was ready to go, and Gemma set the tone straight away with The Best by Tina Turner. As opening performances go, it set a very high standard for everyone else to follow.

Gemma led from the front

Gemma was the standout performer of the night. She took the microphone several times and showed off an amazing range and repertoire, helping set the tone for the whole evening. Once the first few performances landed, the rest of the group followed naturally.

That is often how live karaoke works best. One confident performance gives everyone else permission to get involved, and from there the room starts to build its own momentum.

The songs made the night

The set included a brilliant mix of party favourites and big singalong moments, including Pink Pony Club, Dancing On The Ceiling, Brown Eyed Girl, White Wedding, Bad Romance, Mustang Sally and Rolling In The Deep.

There were also some fantastic duet and group moments, including (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life, Shallow and Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me. The biggest singalong came when all the girls got up for Murder On The Dancefloor, while one of the funniest moments was the boys stepping forward for Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).

That range of songs is exactly why a strong live karaoke song list matters. The best songs are the ones that help guests feel confident, create shared moments and give the whole group something to get behind.

What future party hosts can learn from this

The biggest lesson from Gemma and John’s party is simple: you do not always need a huge venue to have the best night. A smaller group can create an incredible atmosphere when the entertainment gives everyone a reason to join in.

Live karaoke works particularly well for joint stag and hen parties, birthdays, anniversaries and private celebrations because it gives guests something shared to do. It helps friends from different parts of the group mix naturally, creates memorable moments and gives the evening a sense of occasion without making it feel formal.

Another interactive option: The Live Jukebox Band

If you like the idea of interactive live entertainment but do not want guests singing on stage, there is also our sister band, The Live Jukebox Band. Instead of guests singing with the band, they choose what the band plays there and then on the night, just like a real jukebox.

It is another strong option for private parties and pre-wedding celebrations where guests would enjoy shaping the soundtrack of the evening while leaving the performance to the band.
