One weekend, two very different live karaoke events
From a 21st plus one birthday party in York to a corporate getaway near Westbury, two very different live karaoke events showed just how flexible our show can be.
One weekend, two shows and two very different setups. Over three days, The Live Karaoke Band travelled from a 21st plus one birthday party in York to a corporate event near Westbury, with each event presenting a very different challenge.
Alice's 21st plus one birthday party in York
First up was Alice's birthday on Saturday 26 September, with our full five-piece band performing in a marquee at a private party in York.
The evening had an 11pm noise curfew, so we worked the live karaoke around the rest of the party before the celebrations continued with a silent disco.
There was certainly no shortage of singers. Guests used our QR request system throughout the evening, with song choices including Don't Go Breaking My Heart, Since U Been Gone, Don't Look Back In Anger, Sweet Caroline, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, Dancing Queen, Bad Romance and Take On Me.

A very different corporate event near Westbury
Two days later we headed to Wiltshire for a company event with Connect Management, and this one required a rather different approach.
The venue had never hosted live music before and sound levels were an important consideration. After working with Connect and the venue in the days leading up to the event, we agreed to leave the acoustic drum kit at home and perform as a four-piece with lead vocalist and host, guitar, keyboards and bass.
Our guitar and bass rigs are digital and feed directly into the PA, so their volume can be controlled centrally along with the keyboards and vocals. Our guitarist also added a digital kick drum using a stomp box, giving the music some extra punch without introducing the volume of an acoustic drum kit.
The result was a compact, fully live setup that worked for the venue and still gave Connect's team the chance to get behind the microphone. Performances included Josh and Elisha taking on Don't Go Breaking My Heart and Cheriece, Nathan and Safiyah singing Bootylicious.

Two live karaoke events, two very different setups
These two events were a great example of how flexible live karaoke can be. One was a full five-piece show in a garden marquee with a fixed curfew. The other was a compact four-piece performance in a venue where keeping complete control of the sound level was essential.
In both cases, the important bit stayed exactly the same: guests choosing the songs, stepping up to the microphone and experiencing what it's like to front a professional live band.
